SL: Empowering and motivating your students
Hi [Name],
Karen here, I’m the booking manager for speaker and author Dr. Laymon Hicks.
I know you’re getting ready for the upcoming school year so this message will be brief.
Please take a moment and read this email Dr. Hicks recently received from a student who’d attended his talk:
“Dear Mr. Hicks,
When you were at my school, I bought one of your books “N Laymon’s Terms.” Honestly I never read it until a while ago – and thought I never would. It’s kind of weird how I came to reading it.
When I was in the 5th grade and up until now (I’m a high school sophmore) I’ve been bullied. It made me feel so worthless.
So back then, in 5th grade, I started cutting myself, and I still do. I’ve been really depressed and suicidal lately. I’ve felt so alone, no one in my family knows about it.
Well, the other night, I just felt like I couldn’t take it anymore, so I was going to end it all. I was getting ready by throwing all my stuff in the trash and I came across a pile of books. I saw your book on top and I took it and threw it against the wall.
It fell open to page 3, where I saw this quote: “There is too much purpose for your life for you to just give up. Keep going. You got this!”
I broke down and started crying. I flushed the pills I had down the toilet. I cried for a long time after that.
The point I’m trying to make is, you saved my life. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing what you do because I’m sure you’ve saved many other lives besides mine.
So thank you again and please keep doing what you’re doing.”
As an educator, you probably know students with similar heartbreaking stories.
And you also know when someone takes an interest, shows they care and life can be different, those students’ stories can change.
When Laymon gives a talk, his message for students is about energy, empowerment, motivation and strategy. Laymon leads your students through the most powerful life principles they need to pursue their dreams and goals – to achieve greatness!
He challenges students to stop living their lives trying to be like others, instead, to let their own light shine. They leave his talk with a new purpose, a new determination to explore their own unique abilities, talents and skills and discover their own criteria of success.
Laymon helps students so they can be more, do more, and have more joy in their lives.
Laymon has spoken to over 350,000 students in 45 states. He obtained his Doctorate in Organizational Leadership at the young age of 29. He’s been a professional speaker for over 9 years.
If you’d be interested in having him at your school this fall or would like to learn more about him and see him in action, please visit: www.laymonhicks.com

SL: Meet Dr. Laymon Hicks
Hi [Name],
Karen here again, booking manager for Dr. Laymon Hicks.
I’m following up making sure you got the email about Laymon speaking at your school this upcoming fall.
The reason your students will relate so well to Laymon’s talk is he shares his own story, holding nothing back.
He talks about his own troubled teen years, fighting his feelings of abandonment, succumbing to peer pressure and becoming a bully, being expelled from the National Honor Society, eventually falling into a deep depression.
He discusses his “frustrations, flops and faults,” which are eagerly devoured by his audience, then absorbed. Whatever the details, the pain is universal, they all get it.
Now they’re hungry to know how he turned his life around. His road to redemption.
He tells them that real motivation for change comes from within. From wanting more, needing to do better.
From believing you deserve better.
Laymon’s path from troubled youth to graduating high school with a 4.0 GPA and on to getting his doctorate at age 29, is the perfect ending his young audience craves.
But, as he lets them know, it’s only the beginning.
You can check available times to speak directly with Laymon here.
Thanks,
Karen Brown

P.S. As I mentioned in the last email, we’re offering 10% OFF for schools who book Laymon for this fall; his schedule is filling up fast.

SL: The Unknown Impact On Others
Hi [Name],
I’m Dr. Laymon Hicks. My booking manager, Karen, has been in touch with you about my speaking at your school.
I’d be proud to partner with your school; nothing means more to me than bettering the lives of your young people.
As an educator, I’m sure you’re aware that we can never know the impact we can have on the lives of others.
In fact, I wrote an article “Not For A Year, But a Lifetime!,” about the lasting influence teachers can have on the lives of their students. You can read the article here.
About the impact I’ve had at previous schools, here’s what educators are saying:
“In the seventeen years as an SGA advisor, I have had the pleasure of hearing keynote speakers from across the country, and I can assure you that Laymon is a jewel!”
- Celene Sessions, SGA Advisor, Pace High School
“I have to say you are different from any other motivational speaker we have had. You stayed on beyond the speech, and
let our students know that you cared about them as people – WOW!”
- Mary Knauff, State Officer Advisor, PA FCCLA
And the impact my talks have had with students:
“Thank you so much for coming to our school. Every other speaker we have had didn’t touch our hearts because they say the same thing we hear every year, but you… You opened up a lot of our eyes!”
- Rayanna B.
“Thanks to you I see life in a whole new perspective.”
- Amber S.
“Laymon’s message is true and pure. It’s easy to relate to and makes you want to get up and confront your goals head on. He helped me become a much more social person and make the best come out of me in everything I participate in.”
- Christian B.
Read more of what educators and students are saying here.
I’d love the opportunity of serving the young people at your school, of helping them do more, be more and have more joy in their lives.
Sincerely,
Dr. Laymon Hicks
